Anu Agarwal made her debut in Mahesh Bhatt’s Aashiqui (1990) with new comer Rahul Roy. The movie became an instant hit. Her next two movies Ghazab Tamasha (1992) and Khal-Nayika (1993) failed to recreate the magic of Aashiqui.
She worked in the Tamil hit Thiruda Thiruda (1993) by Mani Rathnam. She appeared in a short film by Mani Kaul called The Cloud Door which was based on an erotic theme. It kicked up a controversy and was not screened again.
She was seen in Janam Kundali (1995) and Return of Jewel Thief (1996) after which she stepped out of the spot light .
